Rome, 4 April (LaPresse) – Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni has just departed from Jeddah (the first stop on her tour of the Gulf region, during which she is also scheduled to meet with the leaders of Qatar and the United Arab Emirates), where she was received last night by the Crown Prince and Prime Minister of Saudi Arabia, Mohammed bin Salman. This was announced in a statement from Palazzo Chigi. The meeting also provided an opportunity to discuss how to secure energy supplies and reduce the impact of the crisis on businesses and citizens. The two leaders also agreed on the importance of ensuring freedom of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz as soon as possible. Finally, President Meloni and Prince Mohammed discussed the strategic partnership launched between the two nations during the Prime Minister’s previous mission to Al-Ula (January 2025) and agreed on the importance, even more so in the current regional and international scenario, of developing wide-ranging cooperation on the economy, investment, strategic infrastructure, security and defence.
