Iran, Schlein: “Condemnation for Trump’s attack on Meloni, Italy is a sovereign country”

Rome, Apr 14 (LaPresse) – “Something very serious has happened and I want to express our strongest condemnation, which I am sure will be unanimous in this Chamber, for the attack by President Donald Trump on Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni for having rightfully expressed solidarity with Pope Leo, and I want to say that Italy is a free and sovereign country and that our Constitution is clear: Italy rejects war.” This was stated by Democratic Party leader Elly Schlein, speaking in the Chamber of Deputies. “No foreign Head of State can allow himself to attack or threaten or show disrespect to our country and our government. We are opponents in this Chamber, but we are all Italian citizens and representatives of Italians and we will not accept attacks or threats against the government and our country,” Schlein concluded.
