Lebanon, Mattarella to Macron: “Dismay over death of French Unifil soldier”

Rome, Apr 19 (LaPresse) – “I learned with deep dismay the sad news of the death of chief sergeant Florian Montorio, who fell this morning in southern Lebanon during an attack against the UNIFIL mission. In this mournful circumstance I wish to convey to you, Mr President, the expressions of the most heartfelt condolences of the Italian Republic and my own, together with the condemnation for an unacceptable act against a mission fundamental for the stability of the area and a safeguard for the affirmation of international humanitarian law. We stand close to France in its mourning with feelings of solidarity, while wishing a prompt and full recovery to the wounded comrades.” Thus the President of the Republic, Sergio Mattarella, in a message sent to the President of the French Republic, Emmanuel Macron.
