Milan, 21 May (LaPresse) – MEP Roberto Vannacci is not keen on ‘the new electoral law’. In an interview with La Stampa, Vannacci explains that this is ‘for one fundamental reason: there is no return to preferential voting. And without preferential voting, sovereignty is taken away from the people’. ‘I’m not interested in political manoeuvring or conspiracies. Let them set the entry threshold wherever they like; even though I’m convinced they won’t move it from 3% so as not to exclude Calenda, I have no problem with that. And I’m aiming for the widest possible consensus,’ he says. Everything is ready for the founding assembly of his new party in Rome in June: “We’re growing at an astronomical rate. In two and a half months we’ve reached 50,000 members – to put that in perspective, half the PD’s membership – and over a thousand founding committees across Italy.” Many believe he is actually already negotiating with the centre-right, “I’ve read exactly the opposite. As far as the League is concerned, there’s nothing for us to do; the same goes for Forza Italia,” retorts Vannacci.
