Rome, June 4 (LaPresse) – “The dismissal ordered by the Florence Court in the investigation into the alleged hidden masterminds behind the 1993 mafia bombings represents yet another confirmation of an incontrovertible historical and judicial truth: after decades of investigations and trials, this final chapter also closes with the only possible conclusion, namely the complete absence of any ties between Silvio Berlusconi and organized crime.” This was stated by Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni. “Silvio Berlusconi was the founder of the centre-right and served four times as Prime Minister. For thirty years, together with him, an entire political community, made up of millions of Italians freely expressing their vote, was unjustly subjected to the infamous suspicion that the support obtained at the ballot box was based on mafia funding or illegal dynamics. The facts and judicial decisions definitively sweep away every shadow of doubt: that suspicion had no basis then and has none today,” Meloni added. “The Italian centre-right is not founded on illegality and does not accept that its history be interpreted through theories that have been repeatedly disproved over time. I firmly and proudly reaffirm the political and institutional role of this community: the centre-right is, and has always been, a force for legality and in support of legality in Italy,” the Prime Minister concluded.
