Rome, 22 June (LaPresse) – “Speaking of the great international successes of the past four years: do you remember Almasri, accused of serious crimes, including against children, whom the Meloni government sent home on a state flight flying our flag? Well, Libya has come out better than us. They arrested him, put him on trial and yesterday he was sentenced.” So said M5S leader Giuseppe Conte on social media. “Only Italy has taken on the disgraceful task of shielding him from international justice, protecting him from the arrest warrant just like any rogue state that flouts the International Criminal Court’s arrest warrants, complete with our country being referred to the Assembly of States,” he added. “They have brought shame upon Italy. A great country, the home of the rule of law, in spite of themselves.”
