Rome, 21 July (LaPresse) – “All provisions that allow for the scope of self-defence to be broadened within the framework of our Constitution are supported by Fratelli d’Italia. It is clear, as I have just said, that this is within the framework of our Constitution.” This was stated by the leader of the Fratelli d’Italia group in the Chamber of Deputies, Galeazzo Bignami, in reference to the provision proposed by the Lega to broaden the scope of self-defence. “I am not a constitutional judge, and it is clear that, prior to a ruling on constitutionality, our Constitution provides safeguards that would come into play should the law fail to meet the criteria for constitutionality,” he added, noting that these “would prevent the law from being enacted”.
