Rome, 22 July (LaPresse) – “I would, of course, like to express my solidarity with the police over what happened in Bologna. The truth must be established; no one should be above the law, but what has happened must not turn into a witch-hunt against the police or hatred towards the police force, to whom we must always be grateful for what they do to ensure our safety every day.” This was stated by the Foreign Minister, Antonio Tajani, on the sidelines of the launch of Antonio Preziosi’s book ‘Pasqua di Pace’ at Palazzo Borromeo. “It is also wrong for certain authorities to organise demonstrations and then take them onto the streets. It is true that there were people who protested peacefully, but that square turned into a scene of urban warfare that lasted for hours on end, resulting in dozens and dozens of police officers being injured. This is unacceptable, and our solidarity goes out to them. Justice will take its course, without making any concessions to anyone, but we cannot turn a sad and painful event into an act of aggression against the police, who ensure the safety of all of us 24 hours a day,” he concluded.
