Milan, 28 July (LaPresse) – Regarding Mario Roggero’s candidacy, “it seems to me that there is no legal basis for it. If there were, it would be up to the discretion of one party or another to consider the candidacies”. This was stated by the Speaker of the Chamber of Deputies, Lorenzo Fontana, during the ceremony at which the Parliamentary Press Association presented the ‘Ventaglio’ award in the Sala del Mappamondo at Montecitorio. “As for a pardon, whilst I have great respect for the President of the Republic, this is a matter for the Presidency to assess”, although “it is always legitimate for political parties to make requests”, he added.
