First they summon him, then they cancel the hearing and accuse him of trying to run away.” This was stated in a note by Alfonso Colucci, Stefano Patuanelli and Michele Gubitosa, Five Star Movement members of the Parliamentary Commission of Inquiry into Covid. “The truth is very simple,” the statement continues. “More than two years after making himself available to be heard by the Covid Commission, Giuseppe Conte had already informed President Lisei – most recently also publicly during Domenico Arcuri’s hearing last week – that he would be available on various dates, including dates other than Aug. 4 and 5, which had been proposed by the Commission. It was President Lisei who set the date and then had to cancel it. The notice convening the Covid Commission was issued on July 31, when the parliamentary calendars of the Chamber and Senate had already been finalized. What happened in the meantime to justify the cancellation? What have Lisei and Fratelli d’Italia done until this evening, apart from drafting the defamatory press releases that are already being circulated? This latest outrage is just the latest proof of the determination to use the Parliamentary Commission of Inquiry for Giorgia Meloni’s propaganda. President Conte has been waiting for a summons for more than two years so that he could sweep away all the mud thrown at him by the fake patriots, and today he had even submitted his resignation as a member of the Commission precisely in view of tomorrow’s hearing. There are only two possibilities: either they are incompetent, or they are acting in bad faith.”
