The aim of this law is to ensure stability, which means: economic growth, investment and international standing.” So said Deputy Prime Minister, Foreign Minister and leader of Forza Italia, Antonio Tajani, during an interview with *Il Tempo*. “Preferential votes? Before saying yes, we want to draft the text of the amendment together, which, among other things, will introduce the system of ‘fixed list leaders’. Personally, I have always been elected on the basis of preferential votes and I don’t see any major problems,” stated Tajani. “Will Vannacci be part of the coalition for the 2027 election? Here too, it’s only right to set the record straight: he was deputy secretary of a centre-right party; he left of his own accord, and now his supporters are voting for Schlein, Bonelli and Fratoianni,” replied Tajani. “Given their policies and history, it’s unlikely there will be an electoral agreement: do we even know what he thinks about the economy? About education? About healthcare? You see, it’s not enough to dress up as Julius Caesar and say ‘I’m capable of governing Italy’. Will we be open to centrist groups? We’re talking to all centrist forces, but only if they want to join the centre-right.”
