Because the CGIL delegation – which was very large – looked everyone in the face and listened to everyone, and the CGIL does not turn away from anyone.” So said the CGIL secretary, Maurizio Landini, at Bois du Cazier during the ceremony marking the 70th anniversary of the Marcinelle tragedy. “I find it strange that, with all the problems this country has to face, those in government find the time to fabricate false and biased news stories. I believe that every Italian and every person with even a modicum of intelligence understands that now is not the time for such controversies, because being here means saying ‘enough’ to deaths at work,” concluded Landini.
