EU, Schlein: “Following the Commission’s statements on windfall profits, the Government no longer has any excuses”

(LaPresse) – “The European Commission has today confirmed that Member States may tax the windfall profits of energy companies by exercising their national tax powers, whilst also referring to its own communication from last April. Meloni and Giorgetti have no excuses. They must get a move on and take action. The energy crisis is hitting households and businesses hard. Stopgap measures and temporary extensions are no longer enough. We need robust support measures, which will help in particular those who are most vulnerable and at risk.” This was stated by the secretary of the PD, Elly Schlein.
