Rome, 24 Aug. (LaPresse) – “The very same person who promised to abolish fuel excise duties is now standing by idly whilst Italians face soaring prices. Giorgia Meloni must do one thing: stop resorting to stopgap measures such as the ridiculous 48-hour extension of the excise duty cut. They must put their pride aside and have the courage to tax the windfall profits of the big energy companies to protect families and businesses, by accepting our proposal. Italian families and businesses cannot continue to foot the bill for the government’s inaction. There is no more time to waste. They must act now.” So said PD Secretary Elly Schlein.
