We believe that Conte should be more concerned with the Five Star Movement than with the centre: Renzi’s ability to reach out to those who champion due process, the productive sector, the world of rights and the third sector is certainly greater than that of others. And yet the important thing is to broaden the coalition. If Conte believes there need to be two centrist lists – rather than just one – we take note. The important thing is to work towards a centre-left victory to avoid finding Salvini back at the Ministry of the Interior or, worse still, Vannacci as Prime Minister with Meloni at the Quirinale,” they conclude.
