Rome, 20 Sept. (LaPresse) – “We don’t have a specific strategy for the upcoming elections because we’re pressing ahead with our own. We don’t make calculations. We don’t get involved in playing Risk or electoral bingo. It’s them (the centre-right) who are devising the strategy.” So said Roberto Vannacci, founder of Futuro Nazionale, as he brought the party’s convention to a close from the stage in Orvieto. “They say it’s better to lose than to win with Vannacci. This is the policy of this watered-down centre-right,” he added, commenting on a video of a television interview shown to the audience in which Italo Bocchino criticised FN. “Let no one tell me that if I don’t grovel to Meloni and change the party’s programme to try and get it into this centre-right alliance, I’ll be leaving the country in the hands of the left. It is they who have already planned to leave the country in the hands of the Left. The gentleman who spoke is called Italo Bocchino and is essentially Giorgia Meloni’s spokesperson. This is the strategy that has been devised, and it is not we who have planned this strategy. We are pursuing our own objectives. And on this you have my absolute promise: we will not stray from our objectives. We will press ahead on the basis of our principles. Our commitment is to build on what we have sown so far, and to continue fostering a sense of shared purpose, goodwill and interest in what we are doing. So far, we have succeeded. And in my view, between now and the coming days and months, we will succeed even better. The only meaningful vote one can cast in Italy is for Futuro Nazionale. It is a vote for Italy and the Italian people, and for those who have our country’s best interests at heart.”
