In any case, the continuity of operational activities will be ensured, in accordance with the international commitments undertaken through our participation in Inherent Resolve and the protection of our personnel.” So said Defence Minister Guido Crosetto in a statement in which he reported that “this afternoon, at Palazzo Chigi, together with the Chief of the Defence Staff, General Luciano Portolano, and the Deputy Chief of the Naval Staff, Rear Admiral Fabio Gregori, we took stock of the operational situation of Italian missions, with particular reference to the Middle East theatre. Assessments are currently underway, with the main focus on the safety of the contingents and on the national presence in the area. As also announced by the Houthi spokesperson, there was no intention to target an Italian force,” concluded Crosetto.
