Rome, 30 Sept. (LaPresse) – Sources at Palazzo Chigi have denied reports, carried by the Cairo media, of a high-level telephone conversation between Egyptian and Italian leaders prior to the verdict on the murder of Giulio Regeni. It is specified that the last contact between Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni and Al-Sisi took place on 23 July, on the occasion of Egypt’s national day. It is emphasised that this was the last conversation the two leaders had, and therefore reports of contact prior to the verdict in the Regeni case are false.
