Rome, 7 Oct. (LaPresse) – “Three years ago, on 7 October 2023, Hamas’s terrorist attacks massacred men, women and children; they attacked young people who had gathered to listen to music; they tore innocent people away from their families and dragged them off into captivity. Today we remember the victims of that barbarity and reaffirm our solidarity with their loved ones, with those who endured the horror of captivity, and with the Israeli people. The passage of time does not diminish the gravity of those crimes. No cause can justify the deliberate massacre of innocent people. Remembering this also means renewing our commitment to combating all forms of anti-Semitism.” This is stated in a note from Palazzo Chigi. “Precisely in the name of protecting the entire civilian population involved, we cannot remain indifferent to the dramatic and unacceptable suffering of the inhabitants of Gaza or to the escalating violence to which Palestinian civilians in the West Bank are subjected. The spiral of violence must be halted,” the statement continues. “Italy will continue to work towards a peace that guarantees security for Israelis and a future of freedom and dignity for Palestinians, with a view to two states living side by side within recognised borders. A future in which there is no place for terrorism and no child has to grow up in fear and hatred.”
