Frankfurt (Germany), 17 Oct. (LaPresse) – “I think it’s a mistake for Ukraine. We are on Ukraine’s side. I don’t think we should give Russia too many concessions. We’ll see.” This was stated by Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani, speaking at the Confindustria Young Entrepreneurs’ conference in Capri, whilst commenting on US President Donald Trump’s decision to halt sanctions against Moscow. When asked about the reasons behind Trump’s decision, Tajani replied: “You’ll have to ask Trump why he makes his choices, not me.” The minister then pointed out that Italy’s position had also been reiterated by Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni. “Our position is to continue imposing sanctions on the Russian Federation, not because we are at war with Russia, but to persuade it to sit down at the peace table with Zelensky, perhaps even with a European presence, because without Europe, peace cannot be achieved.”
