Rome, 18 Oct. (LaPresse) – “Having watched the footage, particularly that from Piazza Duomo, I saw a large number of extremely violent protesters and a small group of police officers, pushed into a corner. Now, I’ve got nothing against the police chief – far from it – as I work with him every day. But I get the impression that the situation is being underestimated and that the police resources available in Milan to maintain public order were inadequate. I repeat, I’ve been following and observing demonstrations for years. Well, yesterday it seemed to me that it was many against few. Unfortunately, in cases like this, one has to think in these terms too.” These were the words of the Mayor of Milan, Beppe Sala, speaking on RTL 102.5 the day after the protests and clashes in the Lombard capital.
