Rome, 20 Oct. (LaPresse) – “The degree of consensus that the coalition has built on this issue, and the progress made compared with previous years, is, quite frankly, very significant. We are not at the start of a journey, but have reached this point after passing significant parliamentary legislation and organising a united demonstration. We are now in a position to put forward a proposal for the country: when we form the government, at the first Council of Ministers meeting we will recognise the State of Palestine. At the first European Council, we will call on the EU to suspend the Association Agreement with Israel. Sanctions must be stepped up. Today, with this level of unity, the conditions are in place for the alternative programme to bring about change.” So said AVS leader Nicola Fratoianni, speaking at the conference ‘From the economy of occupation to the economy of liberation’.
