Rome, Oct. 21 (LaPresse) – To tackle high fuel prices, “more than one billion euros in funds have been unlocked. There were 430 million, to which we added 50 million in aid to address high fuel costs for road hauliers, from March through the end of October. Through a tremendous effort, we managed to cover 70% of the additional costs. I don’t think any other governments in Europe have managed to do as much.” Infrastructure and Transport Minister Matteo Salvini said this on Radio Anch’io on Radio1. “Payments to 32,000 road hauliers begin today, and this is something important. In addition, there is a further 590 million euros in contributions for road hauliers replacing their old vehicles with new ones,” he added.
