Naples, 21 Oct. (LaPresse) – “For me, security is a comprehensive political and state-level endeavour. Law enforcement is one aspect of security, but it must be accompanied by investment in urban regeneration and in upholding the rights to healthcare, education, learning, culture and housing.” This was stated by the President of the Campania Region, Roberto Fico, on the sidelines of Question Time in the Regional Council, whilst responding to a question on the Government’s new security decree. “When you manage to ensure people’s rights are upheld – and thus achieve social justice and intergenerational justice, including in terms of the quality of work and incomes,” added Fico, “then security begins to make more sense. Otherwise, security is used only in the narrowest sense, and in my view, that ultimately does not work.”
On the demonstrations, Fico: “Security isn’t just about repression; investment is needed”
