Rome, 28 Oct. (LaPresse) – “Without prejudice to the principle of the autonomy and independence of the judiciary, from what I have read in the newspapers, the request from the Milan Public Prosecutor’s Office – which is notoriously a very professional and very serious office – was extremely well-founded in its severe stance towards this individual in the request for pre-trial detention. The fact that it was rejected, in addition to the failure to validate the arrest – which technically complies with other principles – obviously surprised me.” So said Justice Minister Carlo Nordio in an interview on ‘Cinque minuti’ on Rai 1, referring to the decision by the Milan investigating judge not to validate the arrest of Youssef Siher.
Protests, Nordio: “Surprised by the Milan investigating judge’s decision; the prosecution’s request was well-founded”
