Rome, 30 Oct. (LaPresse) – Simone, Claudio, Franco Adriano, Laura. Four lives cut short whilst serving Italy. Today, my thoughts are with them and with those who love them. Together with Minister Guido Crosetto, I laid a bouquet of roses at the Circus Maximus to pay tribute to our four servicemen who lost their lives in Bosnia. We wanted the Defence Village, set up in the run-up to 4 November, to become a place of remembrance open to all. A place where every Italian can bring a flower, leave a message, and pause in silence. And to let the families of our fallen soldiers feel the solidarity of an entire nation. I know that no words can fill such a great void. But being there is our duty. To stand by those who are grieving, to cherish the memory of those we have lost, and to support the wounded and their loved ones during these difficult times. To anyone wishing to come to the Circus Maximus, I ask for a simple gesture: please bring a flower. In that flower will lie your affection, your respect, and Italy’s gratitude. Simone, Claudio, Franco Adriano, Laura: we will not forget you.” The Prime Minister, Giorgia Meloni, wrote this on social media, posting a video after laying a bouquet of flowers at the Circus Maximus, at the spot commemorating the soldiers who lost their lives in the accident in Bosnia.
