Skiing, World Cup: Kristoffersen wins slalom in Kranjska Gora, Vinatzer finishes ninth

Milan, March 2 (LaPresse) – Henrik Kristoffersen returns from the World Cup event in Kranjska Gora with a double victory. After winning Saturday’s giant slalom, he also claimed a stunning triumph in the slalom, climbing five positions in the second run and finishing with a time of 1’39"26. He beat his teammate Timon Haugan by 17 hundredths of a second and Austria’s Manuel Feller by 23. Mid-race leader Loic Meillard missed out on the podium, finishing fourth ahead of his teammate Tanguy Nef.

Italy’s Alex Vinatzer gained five positions, delivering a clean and fast second run to finish ninth, 94 hundredths behind the leader. Meanwhile, fellow Italian Stefano Gross dropped six positions despite a run without visible mistakes but lacking the energy of his first run, where he had secured 12th place. He finished 18th, 1"46 behind.

In the slalom standings, Kristoffersen extends his lead with 567 points, ahead of Noel with 490 and Meillard with 465. Vinatzer remains in 17th place with 174 points.
