Basketball: NBA, LeBron James Becomes First Player to Surpass 50,000 Points

Los Angeles (California, USA), March 5 (LaPresse/AP) – LeBron James has become the first player in NBA history to score a total of 50,000 points, combining regular season and playoff games. James reached the milestone with a three-pointer early in the first quarter of the Los Angeles Lakers' victory over the New Orleans Pelicans.

The 40-year-old had reached 49,999 points on Sunday night in a win against the Los Angeles Clippers, where he scored 17 points.

Kareem Abdul-Jabbar ranks second on the all-time scoring list, having finished his legendary 20-season career with a total of 44,149 points.
