Europa League: Athletic-Roma 3-1, Basques Advance to Quarterfinals

Rome, March 13 (LaPresse) – Roma were defeated 3-1 at San Mamés in Bilbao by Athletic Club, thus being eliminated after the second-leg match of the Europa League Round of 16. The Basques took the lead with a goal by Nico Williams in the 47th minute of the first half. In the second half, Berchiche scored in the 68th minute, and Nico Williams added another in the 82nd minute. In injury time, Paredes converted a penalty in the 91st minute. Roma were down to ten men from the 12th minute after Hummels was sent off for a last-man foul.
