Football, Gasperini: ‘Future? I have a contract with Atalanta, but it won't be easy to repeat this success'

Milan, 20 May (LaPresse) – ’Renewal is not decisive, I have a contract with Atalanta. As Luca Percassi said, there is such harmony between us that there will be no problems. Then there's football, and unlike other years, what Atalanta has achieved will not be easy to repeat, and that worries me. It's not a foregone conclusion.’ This is what Atalanta coach Gian Piero Gasperini had to say to Sky Sport on the sidelines of the Telenord–Gianni Di Marzio National Award in Portofino. ‘It was a really difficult championship, look at Inter or Napoli. Rather than thinking about the points we lost, it's the points we earned that convince me of the quality of our championship. We will evaluate the possibilities,’ he added. “As always, Atalanta must look at the balance sheet and there will be departures, depending on who they are. It won't be easy to repeat ourselves.” ’Nothing is taken for granted. It was great to follow nine games at the same time yesterday, all of which were important for the standings. All except ours on Saturday, and this shows how balanced it has been,’ reiterated Gasperini, ’and this gives value to what Atalanta has done. It has now achieved a strength and balance that this setback will certainly not have in the event of my departure. Even if this does not mean anything about whether I will stay or not, we have to sit down and talk about it together.’
