Milan, 27 May (LaPresse) – Alexander Zverev made a winning debut at Roland Garros, the second Grand Slam event of the season, on the clay courts of Paris. The German, ranked third in the world and seeded third, defeated American Learner Tien, ranked 67th, in three sets with a score of 6-3, 6-3, 6-4. Australia's Alex De Minaur, seeded ninth, also advanced, defeating Serbia's Laszlo Djere, ranked 59th in the ATP rankings, 6-3, 6-4, 7-6 (6). The first notable elimination is that of Daniil Medvedev, the Russian seeded 11th but former world number 1, who lost in five sets to England's Cameron Norrie, ranked 81st in the ATP rankings, who won 7-5, 6-3, 4-1, 1-6, 7-5. Finally, Bulgaria's Grigor Dimitrov, seeded 16th, withdrew against American Ethan Quinn with the score at 2-6, 3-6, 6-2.
