Milan, 7 July (LaPresse) – Mexico beat the United States 2-1 in the final to win its tenth Concacaf Gold Cup title, a record. Chris Richards gave the United States the lead after four minutes on Sunday evening in Houston, scoring with a header from Sebastian Berhalter's free kick for the second time in the tournament. But Raúl Jiménez equalised for Mexico in the 27th minute with his third goal in this Gold Cup. Edson Álvarez then scored the decisive goal in the 77th minute after a video review overturned an offside call. Álvarez's goal was upheld by VAR, and from that point on, Mexico held on to defend its 2023 title, improving its record to 6-2 in Gold Cup finals against the United States.
