Champions League, Juventus-Borussia Dortmund 4-4

Turin, Sep 16 (LaPresse) – Juventus and Borussia Dortmund played out a spectacular 4-4 draw in the opening match of the single-group stage of the Champions League. After a first half with few emotions, the game came alive in the second half. Adeyemi’s low shot opened the scoring in the 7th minute, only for Yildiz to respond with a beautiful curling strike in the 18th. The Germans regained the lead with a thunderbolt from outside the box by Nmecha in the 20th minute, but the hosts answered again as newcomer Vlahovic scored diagonally on an assist from Yildiz to make it 2-2. Borussia pressed on, and in the 29th minute Couto put them ahead 3-2, helped by Di Gregorio, who conceded the goal at his post. Bensebaini converted a penalty for a handball by Kelly in the 41st minute to make it 4-2, seemingly closing the match. But in the final moments, anything could happen. Vlahovic netted the 4-3 in the 94th minute on a cross from Kalulu, and two minutes later Kelly headed in an incredible 4-4 from a diving finish on a cross from the unstoppable Vlahovic. Both teams now have one point in the standings.
