Milan, 17 September (LaPresse) – ‘I am sure that all necessary security measures will be taken.’ This was stated by Kristin Kloster, chair of the IOC Coordination Commission for the Milan-Cortina Winter Olympic Games, regarding security during the competitions and beyond. ‘The geopolitical situation has been volatile for some time, and our first task is to ensure the safety of participants and the public,’ added IOC Executive Director Christophe Dubi. “We all have full confidence in the organisers, and the planning is going very well for the torch relay and during the Games. There will be secure areas for the public, so we are fully confident in what the Committee is doing,‘ he added. Still on the subject of the Olympic torch relay, Kloster stressed that ’the torch relay will attract a lot of attention, but I have every confidence in the organisers, both on the IOC side and in the cities.”
