Football, De Zerbi: ‘PSG represents power, I’m at OM to beat them’

Milan, Sept. 23 (LaPresse) – “I came here for the Vélodrome and to beat PSG. They are the team that represents power and has been winning uncontested for years, which doesn’t align with my philosophy. But so far, we haven’t achieved anything: the most important thing is Friday in Strasbourg, to take another step towards our goal of building a great team.” This is how Olympique Marseille’s coach, Roberto De Zerbi, spoke to the French press after his team’s victory over Paris Saint-Germain in the league match. “The win was deserved against a team that is leaving its mark on this era, like the Milan team of Sacchi, a team that plays a different style of football, which adds value to my players’ performances,” he added. However, De Zerbi is already thinking about the next match. “This victory shouldn’t give anything extra to the team. The defeat in Madrid (1-2 on Tuesday in the Champions League) made us realize that we have strong players. The team is strong, we know that, but Friday will be even more important than tonight’s game,” he said. “I’ve already warned the players, they know it. If we beat Paris and struggle against Strasbourg, it means we’re not a great team,” concluded the Italian coach, who was sent off at the end for protesting.
