Tennis, Sinner: ‘Ready to return, I’m working on new things’

Milan, Sept. 24 (LaPresse) – During the media day of the ATP 500 tournament in Beijing, Jannik Sinner spoke about his current form and future goals. After a long break following the US Open, the Italian player said he feels physically and mentally refreshed and ready to return to the court with renewed energy. In Beijing, where he lost last year’s final to Carlos Alcaraz, he will debut against Croatian Marin Cilic.

Reflecting on the season, Sinner admitted it hasn’t been easy. Despite a strong start in Australia, various challenges kept him from participating in several key tournaments. The event in China will be just his eighth of the year. However, the time off allowed him to analyze past defeats and work on technical aspects of his game to continue growing.

Among the adjustments, Sinner mentioned some technical tweaks aimed at reducing his still too-high error rate. He emphasized the need for patience before seeing the results during official matches, but highlighted how motivating it is to work on something new in order to improve.

There’s also a new face in his team: Sinner has hired Alejandro Resnicoff as his new physiotherapist. With 15 years of ATP Tour experience, Resnicoff was chosen for his ability to fit in without disrupting the team’s balance. His role will be to assist in improving Sinner’s physical condition, always with care and gradual progress.

Looking ahead to his opening match, Sinner is confident but cautious: early rounds are always tricky, but the goal remains to play high-level tennis again.
