Europa League, Italiano: ‘Bologna will grow, the goal remains to advance to the next round’

Milan, 2 October (LaPresse) – ‘We approached the match well, the team regained its cohesion and didn’t give anything away to our opponents. However, they held out for ninety minutes, and we struggled in the second half given their quality. They didn’t allow us to do what we wanted to do.’ This is how Bologna coach Vincenzo Italiano commented to Sky Sport on the home draw against Freiburg in the Europa League. ‘It’s still a point to move up the table, the goal is to get through the round. I’m confident, we believe in it,’ he added. ‘The boys need to stay calm, it’s only 2 October and we’ll all grow. Last year, we were perhaps in a worse position at this point in the season. I’m convinced we’ll come out of it,’ said Italiano. ‘It’s clear that at home you have to try to get all three points, but it’s never easy. This is a competitive Europa League, with quality teams, and Freiburg confirms that,’ he continued. ‘The leap in quality doesn’t happen immediately, it happens in steps, and we will try to find the right key,’ concluded Italiano.
