Turin, 5 October (LaPresse) – Yet another triumph this season for Tadej Pogacar. The Slovenian cyclist, fresh from winning the world championship, also won the men’s road race at the European Championships, dominating the 202 km race from Privas to Guilherand-Granges. Remco Evenepoel finished behind him, 31‘ behind the winner. The bronze medal went to young Frenchman Paul Seixas, 3’41’ behind Pogacar. Italy’s captain Christian Scaroni finished just off the podium in fourth place, 4’04” behind. Gianmarco Garofoli also made the top ten, finishing ninth. There was disappointment for Denmark, with Jonas Vingegaard – winner of the Vuelta a España and one of the pre-race favourites – losing ground to the peloton more than 100 km from the finish.
