Rome, Oct 6 (LaPresse) – All negative except for two, the changes for Italian players in the women’s world ranking published this morning by the WTA after the conclusion of the WTA 1000 in Beijing. This week as well, three Italians remain among the top hundred. The top Italian is still Jasmine Paolini: the 29-year-old from Bagni di Lucca, thanks to the quarterfinals on the Chinese hard court (stopped by Anisimova, who then won the title), remains stable in the eighth position.
Behind her, both Lucia Bronzetti, now number 74, and Elisabetta Cocciaretto, number 92, lose one spot. Lucrezia Stefanini also moves back, now at number 150, while Nuria Brancaccio drops five places to number 158 but remains in the “best” zone. Thanks to her victory in the $60,000 tournament in Bucharest (her second ITF career title), Camilla Rosatello jumps 66 positions to number 201 (she had previously peaked at number 225 in August 2017), enjoying the satisfaction of achieving a personal best at age 30.
The very young Tyra Caterina Grant gains four spots: the 17-year-old Roman this week is at number 209, close to her “best.” On the other hand, Silvia Ambrosio drops six places to number 210, while Nicole Fossa Huergo falls sixteen positions to number 272. Behind her, Jessica Pieri moves back one spot, now number 285, closing the Italian top ten.
This week Paolini and Bronzetti (the latter having gone through the qualifications) are competing in the WTA 1000 in Wuhan.
