IOC, Coventry: “In a world of conflicts, Olympic values of peace are more important than ever”

Milan, Oct. 7 (LaPresse) – “In a world of conflicts and divisions, the Olympic values of peace, respect, and solidarity are more important than ever.” This is what IOC President Kirsty Coventry said via video link during the presentation of the 43rd edition of the Milano International Ficts Fest at Palazzo Lombardia. “The Winter Olympic Games have always been more than just a competition; they are a powerful symbol connecting people and cultures, reminding us of what unites us as one human family,” she said.

“Milan-Cortina will carry forward this spirit with a new vision of what the Games can mean in our times. The first Winter Games shaped by our Olympic Agenda reforms,” she added, “with gender equality never seen before, set in iconic locations and landscapes that will celebrate both tradition and innovation, and above all, will celebrate the values that inspire us.”

“Your event shows how the Olympic spirit can shine even before the flame is lit. Through cinema, you are spreading Olympic values far beyond the playing field,” Coventry concluded about the event.
