Milan, Oct. 12 (LaPresse) – Dragan Stojković has resigned as head coach of the Serbian national team following the 1-0 home defeat against Albania in a World Cup qualifying match.
“The result was really negative, I didn’t expect it and it shouldn’t have happened. I take full responsibility,” said the former Red Star Belgrade player.
“I will not lead the team in the next match against Andorra, but I leave with pride. There were good things and many results,” he added.
“It’s not a tragedy when a coach leaves — Serbia will always have a great supporter in me,” Stojković concluded, as reported by Serbian media.
