Volleyball: Velasco, it’s good to be humble, but sometimes it dehumanises people

Trento, 12 October (LaPresse) – “It’s nice to be myths and legends because you’ve won, but sometimes that dehumanises people. When they were little, none of these girls knew how to do anything, then they learned to play volleyball. Of course they’re special, but not too special. Everyone should aspire to do the best they can.” These were the words of Julio Velasco, coach of the Italian women’s volleyball team and world champions, speaking on the last day of the Trento Sports Festival, where he was greeted with endless applause.
