Skiing: Bassino suffers tibial plateau fracture, Milan-Cortina at risk

Rome, 22 October (LaPresse) – Marta Bassino suffered a fall during training with the women’s team in Val Senales (Bolzano) in preparation for the giant slalom on Saturday 25 October, which marks the opening of the World Cup. The news was announced by FISI. The 29-year-old Piedmontese athlete from the Army Sports Centre, who was competing in the second round of the morning, was tackling a flat section of the Leo Gurschler slope when she slipped. Immediately assisted by the FISI Medical Commission, she was taken to Merano Hospital, where an X-ray revealed a lateral fracture of the tibial plateau of her left leg. Marta is currently undergoing a further CT scan to assess the extent of the injury, after which the FISI Medical Commission will decide, in agreement with the athlete, how to proceed.
