New York (New York, United States), 23 October (LaPresse/AP) – Over 30 people have been arrested as part of an investigation into illegal sports betting and rigged poker games backed by the Mafia. This was reported by US authorities. It is the same investigation that led to the arrest of Miami Heat guard Terry Rozier and Portland Trail Blazers coach Chauncey Billups. Rozier, in particular, is accused of participating in an illegal sports betting scheme using confidential NBA information. Billups’ position, on the other hand, is contained in a separate indictment alleging the existence of a vast plan – financed by mafia families – to rig illegal poker games. The indictment against Rozier alleges that there are nine anonymous co-conspirators, including a Florida resident and an Oregon resident, both former NBA players, as well as a relative of Rozier.
