Milan, 27 October (LaPresse) – Several positive changes for Italy in the women’s world rankings published this morning by the WTA after the conclusion of the WTA 500 in Tokyo and the WTA 250 in Guangzhou. Once again, there are two Italian players in the top 100 this week. Jasmine Paolini is still the Italian leader, but the 29-year-old from Bagni di Lucca drops two places to eighth. She is now waiting for the Finals in Riyadh. Behind her, thanks to her quarter-final appearance in Guangzhou (where she was stopped by Ann Li, who went on to win the title), Elisabetta Cocciaretto climbs six places to 89th. Lucia Bronzetti, on the other hand, drops fourteen places, with her failure to reach the semi-finals on Chinese hard courts as she did last year costing her a place in the top 100: the Romagna native is now number 105. There is only one change in the top ten of the rankings. Aryna Sabalenka remains at the top for the fifty-fourth consecutive week, followed by Iga Swiatek and Coco Gauff. Paolini drops two places to eighth, overtaken by Elena Ribakina, who regains sixth place thanks to her semi-final in Tokyo, and Madison Keys in seventh.
