ATP Finals: Musetti faces an uphill battle if Auger-Aliassime reaches the final in Paris

Rome, 31 October (LaPresse) – Lorenzo Musetti’s race to qualify for the ATP Finals is becoming increasingly difficult. Felix Auger-Aliassime’s arrival in the semi-finals of the ATP in Paris increases the Canadian’s chances of overtaking the player from Carrara, currently number 8 in the rankings. Musetti currently occupies eighth place with 3,685 points after losing in the second round on the hard courts of the French capital to Lorenzo Sonego. Auger-Aliassime is close behind with 3,595 points, with the possibility of overtaking him if he reaches the final (3,845) and the chance to mathematically secure his place in the Finals if he wins. Musetti will also be called upon to take to the court next week, the last before the Finals. The Italian has requested a wild card for the ATP 250 tournament in Athens to try to fend off the Canadian’s assault (should he lose in the semi-finals) or to attempt a comeback in the event of defeat in the final. Alternatively, there is the ATP 250 in Metz.
