Rome, Nov. 12 (LaPresse/AP) – Concern for the Brazilian midfielder and former Chelsea player, Oscar, who collapsed and lost consciousness for about two minutes while undergoing medical tests on an exercise bike. His condition is stable, his club São Paulo reported. The player, transported to hospital by ambulance, is in stable condition in hospital. “During tests carried out on Tuesday morning, at the SuperCT, as part of preseason preparations, the athlete Oscar experienced a complication with cardiac alterations and was promptly treated by club professionals and the medical team from Einstein Israelita Hospital, who were present,” said São Paulo in a statement. “The player was then transported to hospital, where he is clinically stable and remains under observation for further tests to clarify the diagnosis,” the club added. Oscar is under contract with São Paulo until 2027. He returned to the club where he grew up on a free transfer last December after a long period in China. The midfielder won a Europa League and two Premier Leagues with Chelsea. He moved to Shanghai midway through the 2016-17 Chelsea season for an estimated $73 million. He won three Super Leagues in China and became a fan favorite among Asian supporters. Oscar played for Brazil at the 2014 World Cup, where he scored the only goal in the 7-1 semifinal defeat by Germany, who went on to win the tournament.
