Milan, 22 Nov. (LaPresse) – Cagliari and Genoa drew 3-3 in the early relegation battle on matchday 12 of the Serie A championship. It was a spectacular match, full of goals and excitement already in the first half. Genoa took the lead in the 18th minute with a beautiful right-footed diagonal shot by Vitinha, and the Sardinians equalised with a header by Borrelli in the 33rd minute. De Rossi’s team regained the lead at the end of the half with a great volley by Ostigard, following a flying cross by Thorsby in the 41st minute. Before the break, however, Cagliari equalised with a fine right-footed shot from the centre of the area by Sebastiano Esposito in the 43rd minute. In the second half, the match remained balanced until the 60th minute when Borelli put Cagliari ahead with a splendid header from a cross. Genoa refused to give up, however, and in the 83rd minute they found a deserved equaliser through Martin. In the final minutes, the Ligurians almost scored again with Ostigard hitting the post, but then they were reduced to ten men after Norton Cuffy was sent off. The two teams’ positions in the table remain unchanged, with Cagliari moving up to 11 points and Genoa temporarily joining Parma on 8 points, but still in the relegation zone.
