Tennis: SuperTennis Awards, Sinner and Paolini named tennis players of the year

Milan, 5 December (LaPresse) – The passing of Nicola Pietrangeli has forced the Federation to postpone the SuperTennis Awards, the traditional end-of-year tribute dedicated to excellence in Italian tennis, to a date to be determined. This is a fitting tribute to a giant who laid the foundations for the history of Italian tennis. While waiting for the event to be rescheduled, Supertennis has officially announced the protagonists of this unique season, revealing all the winners and their respective motivations. The best male player is, of course, Jannik Sinner, while the best female player is Jasmine Paolini. For both, the motivation is “Speechless”. The Achievement of the Year goes to Flavio Cobolli who “with two heart-breaking matches in Bologna stopped Italy, even blocking a national institution such as TG1 and providing his peers with an example of courage and dedication”. The Cuor di Leone award goes to Matteo Berrettini, “a veteran of a thousand battles, who extended his unbeaten streak in the Davis Cup, leading Italy to its third consecutive victory with his roars”. Cuor di Leonessa goes to Sara Errani, ‘the years pass, but her spirit remains undiminished. Once again, she was an irreplaceable partner and guide for her friend Jasmine, not only in doubles but also from the stands.
