Spalletti: ‘In Naples, I hurt the team with my choices’

Turin, 9 December (LaPresse) – “An attack without strikers in Naples? It wasn’t to spur on the forwards, I wanted to win the match and I was convinced that it was the right system for us. Then I didn’t get the result I wanted, and of course I am responsible. I didn’t put them in a position to give their best because of my choices, and I hurt them.” So said Juventus coach Luciano Spalletti at a press conference on the eve of the Champions League match against Pafos, reflecting on Sunday evening’s defeat at the Maradona Stadium. ‘I have had a very painful experience, because it is more painful for me than for you, I created a difficulty,’ he added. ‘When we started the second half, we saw a different energy and aggression, a different balance. At a certain point, the conditions were there to have more control of the game, but then we conceded another goal and it all became more difficult.’
